TESLA FATHER OF ELECTRICAL ERA
20th century was marked by the invention of electrical power. The young inventor Nikola Tesla is the one to thank for this radical progress of human evolution. Nikola Tesla was a creator of Alternating Current (AC) that made possible for electrical power to become available to all the world by minimizing lost of energy in transmission between the power station and our residences and businesses.
This bright little mind as born in 1856 in Smiljan, a rural part of today’s Croatia (than Austrian Monarchy). Nikola was a son of an Orthodox Serbian priest that lived with his family in Croatian part of the monarchy. Already as a boy he had affection towards engineering and inventions. It is fascinating how a boy from a small village that at time didn’t have any modern commodity manage to have such a great vision and be beyond his time to make the inventions that are still in everyday use and without which we can not even image our daily routines.
In 1884 Tesla left Croatia and Europe for United States where he came to work with great Edison. After a dispute with Edison (Edison didn’t want to pay Tesla the per-arrange wage), Tesla left his laboratory and started working on his own. He lived in New York where he worked on his inventions most of the time (he spend some time in Colorado working on wireless lighting). Even though he was a great mind of his time, a “mad scientist” died penniless in his room in New Yorker hotels where he spent last years of his life, working in one room and sleeping in the other.
Tesla was a visionary that wanted to provide electricity to everyone on wireless platforms. This idea was not taken greatly by Electrical Companies that saw infinite source of capital by having the the world wired on electricity. We can say that even today we are still paying the wire connection of power that was set up in Tesla’s time!
The great name of Tesla became the synonym for electricity. The name gain new glory with the invention of 21st visionair Elon Musk. Musk named his great new electric car Tesla and made a shift in global car industry. Few years ago I saw Tesla Motors first showroom in Paris and immediately connected the name with electricity and great man whose name should be a lead in electrical power. Knowing that Nikola Tesla got only recently appraised for all of his effort and contribution to humanity, it is such a great privilege to be able to see his name written on this great new invention. Who would say that one day the name from a small village in Croatia will be written all over the electrical car industry!
And as well the same great men inspired one other Croatian to chase his dream of electrical energy and speed. The young Croatian inventor Mate Rimac had a vision of creating all electric super-car and showing that electric cars can be fun to drive while being ecological at the same time. His Concept One and S show that the inventor spirit never left the region. New generations are ready to continue shaping the future with great inventions.
